Marriage: So far so good!
I keep teasingly calling Luis “husband” – as in “hey husband, want some toast?” Yesterday morning when we were at my parents’ place, he answered with “Yes, snap to it, wifey!” I told him to just bear with me. It’s sortof my way of acclimating myself to the concept. He keeps calling me wifeypoo when I call him husband, which just sets me off into giggling fits. It is SO NOT US, which makes it all the funnier.
I think tomorrow we will burn some sage and copal and set up our altar from the wedding in its permanent home in the living room shelving. It was truly lovely – picture below. I cannot believe we found marigolds and chrysanthemums, as neither one is commonly found in Seattle. In fact I don’t think I’ve seen marigolds here until Luis went into Safeway looking for flowers for the altar, and there they were just waiting for us. If you are curious about this tradition, please read this article on Dia de los Muertos and the meaning of many of the items on our altar.
